The Fairfield Circuitry Placeholder Analog Reverb Device: a liminal analogue space machine

Analogue Reverb Pedal with Bucket Brigade Architecture

There are reverbs that recreate rooms, and then there are devices that create entirely new realities. The Placeholder exists somewhere in between. Built around a truly analogue signal path, this pedal leverages bucket brigade delay lines, VCAs, mixers, and filtering to realize a reverb experience that feels both familiar and completely alien. It is not a delay pretending to be a reverb. It is a reverb that occasionally reveals its delay DNA in the most musical and unexpected ways.

This is a study in tension. The concept of a digital reverb algorithm brought into the imperfect, expressive world of analogue circuitry. The result is depth, texture, and a sense of movement that simply cannot be replicated by pristine digital systems. Expect noise. Expect character. Expect magic.

Householder Feedback Network and Echo Density Control

At the heart of the Placeholder is a Householder reflection feedback matrix, built around three independent analogue delay lines. Each delay feeds only into the others, creating a dense and evolving field of reflections. The system is constantly searching for the longest path through the network, resulting in rich diffusion and complex decay patterns that feel alive under your fingers .

This architecture allows for rapid echo density even with minimal delay lines, delivering everything from tight, flanging-adjacent textures to expansive, blooming spaces. The interaction between SIZE and RATIO controls opens up an exploratory landscape where flutter, smear, and diffusion shift in real time.

Deep Control and Interactive Sound Design

The fully variable control set puts you directly inside the architecture of the space. There are no presets here. Every sound is shaped in the moment.

The SIZE control establishes the foundational delay length, while RATIO scales the remaining delay lines relative to it. TONE operates as a tilt filter centered around 500Hz, sculpting the character of the reflections from bright and reflective to dark and absorptive. DECAY governs the feedback network, moving from subtle ambience to full self oscillation where the pedal begins to sing.

Additional modulation options introduce subtle movement through cyclical or random variations in delay time, enhancing the sense of space and preventing static decay tails. The result is a reverb that breathes and evolves with your playing.

Experimental Routing and Modular Integration

Placeholder invites experimentation at every level. The insert loop allows external effects to be placed directly into the feedback path, destabilizing the network and opening the door to entirely new textures. From pitch shifting to modulation to saturation, the possibilities are vast and unpredictable.

Control voltage inputs for SIZE and DECAY extend the pedal into modular territory, allowing dynamic interaction with external gear. This is not just a pedal, it is a system for exploring sound.

Organic Noise and Expressive Imperfection

Unlike conventional designs that aim for pristine clarity, Placeholder embraces the inherent noise of analogue bucket brigade devices. This noise is not a flaw but a feature, becoming part of the spatial texture especially at longer delay times and higher mix settings .

This pedal does not produce static, washy pads. It sings. It responds. It reacts. It rewards players who engage with it as an instrument rather than a utility. The result is a deeply expressive reverb that encourages exploration and discovery.

Great Mouse
I normally use the Logitech M325c. I've gone through dozens over the years. It works very well, but they seem to wear out fast; the wheel scroll is what fails. I decided to give the Amazon Basics a try. So far, it looks, feels, and functions the same as the Ltech; it doesn't have the fun colors, but if it holds up longer than a year, it's a fair tradeoff. I will revise this review if things change in the future, but as of now, I would recommend the Amazon Basics and will replace the other Ltech's when the time comes.

Awesome quality mouse
Fantastic value. First it feels like a quality mouse and works like a mouse 3-4x the price. It is solid and has nice weight to it, not like some of the flimsy competitors. I am buying another just to have.

Quiet, Comfortable, Convenient
Color: Purple, Color: Purple
I ordered both this mouse and the Proto arc because they are budget friendly and both have good reviews. Not much sets them apart, both are great options! This Seenda is slightly larger which I decided was best for what I need. (Hands 6.5in x 3.5in) Quiet, smooth, similar weight and feel when moving around. Similar control on the screen as well. Both incredibly easy to pair with my Macbook. I ended up choosing this one because I love the colors and I like the knob that turns the volume up and down. They both have buttons that when clicked, go back a page, or go forward a page. I will update my review if it is not durable.

A Smart Upgrade: Seenda’s Ergonomic Mouse Impresses
Color: Blue
As someone who has relied on a traditional wireless mouse for years, I approached the Seenda Ergonomic Mouse with cautious curiosity. I was interested in exploring ergonomic options, but unsure how significant the difference would be. To my surprise, this device made an immediate and positive impression. The mouse is impressively quiet and highly responsive, gliding effortlessly even on a standard desk surface—so much so that I’ve done away with my mousepad altogether. Its ergonomic design provides a natural hand position, which enhances comfort during extended use, especially when browsing or working online. One of the standout features is the inclusion of forward and backward navigation buttons, which streamline web browsing. Additionally, the conveniently placed voice control button on the top of the device adds a modern, user-friendly touch. That said, there are a couple of areas for improvement. While the rechargeable battery is convenient, the mouse does not offer an option for traditional batteries. Furthermore, it appears to lack a clearly visible low battery indicator, which could potentially lead to unexpected downtime. However, I have yet to experience any battery-related issues during use. Overall, the Seenda Ergonomic Mouse is a well-designed and enjoyable tool that significantly enhances the computing experience. It delivers on comfort, functionality, and performance—earning it a strong 4.8 out of 5 in my review.
